General Application Instructions for Awards, Grants, and Scholarships

(NADE Policy C-5, IV; policy last revised 06/01)

1. The application packet from the nominated person(s) or group must be postmarked by September 15, with the exception of the Martha Maxwell Developmental Education Student Scholarship, which has a postmark due date of December 15, and the Kellogg Institute Scholarship, which has a postmark due date of January 1.
   
   
2. All application packets, regardless of the award, grant, or scholarship, are to be mailed to the Awards Committee Chair:

3. Each application packet should include a cover page with the following information: the name of the NADE award, grant or scholarship; nominee's name and contact person (in case of nomination of NADE chapter or developmental education department); job position; institution name; department name; street and building address; city; state; zip code; work telephone number; fax telephone number; and E-mail address.
   
   
4. Except where noted otherwise, send four copies of the application packet.
   
   
5. To be considered, a nominee must be a dues paying member of NADE except for the following awards: Hunter R. Boylan Outstanding Research/Publication Award, Outstanding Alumnus of a Developmental Education Program, NADE Award to an Administrator or Public Servant for Outstanding Support to Developmental Education, or Martha Maxwell Developmental Education Student Scholarship.
   
   
6. The following three rules govern review of applicants: (a) Current members of the Executive Board and members serving on awards committees will be excluded from consideration for these awards during their tenure. (b) Membership on the Executive Board or an awards committee does not exclude that member's chapter from consideration for a chapter award. (c) Anyone who has previously received an individual NADE award will be excluded from receiving another individual NADE award (e.g., except for a special recognition award granted by the NADE Executive Board) unless he or she is being considered to receive a NADE publication award.
