Would you like to become more involved with NADE and serve others in the profession? There are many opportunities for personal and professional service within NADE. The strength of NADE stems from the volunteer spirit of its members. Volunteering is an excellent way to meet new friends, develop leadership skills, serve others, and gain increased personal and professional satisfaction. Volunteer opportunities exist to match any level of involvement you might seek. To volunteer, please complete the following steps:

• Annual NADE Conference: Some possible activities include:
  • Serve as proposal reader. My area of interest is: _______________________________________.
  • Work during the year before the beginning of the conference.
  • Help with a committee for a few hours during the conference.
• Adjunct Faculty: Encourages adjunct faculty participation and development and establishes professional growth activities.
• Articulation Task Force: Identifies opportunities for developmental educators in higher education to collaborate with colleagues in the K-12 system; works to share information about expectations, standards, and teaching/learning theory and practice with primary and secondary educators.
• Awards: Committee coordinates promotion of NADE awards, selects reviewers for awards program, promotes nominations for the various awards, and assists with award ceremony.
• Archives: Collects and organizes NADE materials for easy access and historical preservation.
• Constitution: Provides information about the NADE constitution and bylaws, information for amending the documents, and makes recommendations for possible changes.
• Cultural Diversity: Encourages participation of NADE members from diverse backgrounds and develops activities to encourage diversity within NADE.
• Elections: Committee provides information and promotes nomination of officer candidates, coordinates process for selection of candidate slates, and supervises the election process.
• Exhibits: This committee serves as the permanent contact for inquiries by companies regarding advertising, exhibiting and sponsoring events at chapter and national conferences.
• International Access: Coordinates the dissemination of information about developmental education programs in countries throughout the world and encourages membership in NADE with fellow educators from outside the U.S.
• Membership: Provides information on how to join NADE, sends welcome packet to new members, recommends new services for individual NADE members, and conducts research concerning the membership.
• Monograph: Assists with the production of the annual NADE Monograph.
• Newsletter: Assists with writing, editing and other production aspects of the NADE Newsletter.
• Placement: Coordinates information concerning job opportunities to the NADE membership and provides information at the annual conference.
• Political Liaison: Serves as a clearinghouse of information among the NADE state chapter political liaisons, identifies key issues on the state and national level; and oversees the NADE political liaison newsletter (The Liaison).
• Professional Development: Coordinates annual awards to support continuing education by individual NADE members; recommends activities to support professional development of members, and coordinates professional development workshops for the members.
• Professional Liaison: The committee coordinates information among like-minded professional organizations and recommends cooperative agreements between NADE and other organizations.
• Professional Standards and Evaluation: Provides workshops for NADE members on how to use NADE Self-Evaluation Guides and coordinates the development of professional standards for various areas of concern for developmental education.
• Publications: Coordinates the editing, production and dissemination of NADE's publications (e.g. conference proceedings, special reports, newsletter).
• Publicity: Works with the Board and other NADE committees to coordinate the dissemination and promotion of information, press releases, policy statements, and products.
• Research: Coordinates research concerning NADE activities (e.g., membership, conferences), coordinates annual research awards for individual NADE members, and recommends and coordinates research studies concerning developmental education.
• Web Administrator: Maintains and updates information on the NADE web pages.
